We’ve just received word that our friend, Bruce Roundy (City of Orland) has withdrawn his candidacy for League of California Cities Board of Directors. This leaves Randall Stone as the sole ascendant candidate for the 2018-2020 term representing the state of California as a member of the Board of Directors of the League of California Cities from the Sacramento Valley Division.
To recap the last few days, Orland Councilmember Roundy and Chico Councilmember Stone were running against each other for the statewide board position up to and including a very rare tie-vote at the division last Friday. This picture was taken at the Headwaters of the Sacramento River in Mount Shasta. The start of this river is literally pouring out of the mountain side where Stone and Roundy are standing. Both live in communities forged by the life provided by the Sacramento River.
But it was also a picture taken just minutes after that tie vote. Our friend and colleague from Orland made the classy decision to withdraw his candidacy and let Stone take the position.
Councilmember Roundy has done an outstanding job representing the Division and the state on the Board. We appreciate his work, his encouragement, and his support for the Division. Thanks for everything, Bruce.
